Search marketers in India noted that the content of the “Featured Snippet” looked like proof. One search marketer called it “shady as hell” However, according to a statement by a Google spokesperson, this is a bug, not a feature.
Featured Snippet Link Bug
In India, a search for “cyber security courses” will generate a featured snippet that has links to other Google searches on the website content displayed in the featured summary.
Tweets about it have not been well received in the search community.
I was able to reproduce it by switching to the Indian IP and indeed there were links to other Google searches embedded in the snippet.
Google Confirms Embedded Links in Featured Snippets is a Bug
I contacted Google to ask what happened. They wrote to us by email and it turned out that it was not a test. This is a mistake.
According to a Google spokesperson:
Google Search Bug

For a while, many people thought this was a real test, and while many people thought Google would test such things, it also explained how it felt about the search community.
