Lots of Affiliate Links OK if Content is Valuable – Google John Muller Explains

Google’s John Mueller said that as long as the main content is useful to search engines, the number of affiliate links on the page does not matter.

You can place as many affiliate links as you need on the page without worrying about penalties or downgrades.

This was stated in the Google Search Center SEO Hangout recorded on August 6, 2021.

A few weeks after Google launched an update to its spam link algorithm, this issue may not be a coincidence, and it may punish sites that place unmarked affiliate links.

However, if affiliate links are used correctly, there is “no limit” on the number of pages you can have in terms of SEO.

This is exactly what Mueller said on this issue.

Mueller clarified that Google is not trying to send information about bad affiliate links. They are perfectly fine, as long as they are placed in useful content:

Mueller goes on to say that Google needs a reason to display a website in search results, and this reason is usually because it has valuable content that people are searching for.

If the content on the page is not what Google considers valuable, then it will not rank whether it has dozens of affiliate links or none at all.
