This video solves a problem for a small business website owner who wants to reduce costs by hosting their website on a shared server. Dedicated hosting is more expensive because it is designed for faster page speeds.

In turn, this may lead to a ranking advantage in Google search results.

If the small business budget only has space for shared hosting, are Google standards still acceptable?

SEO Benefits For Shared Hosting vs. Dedicated Hosting?

Shared hosting refers to a configuration where multiple websites are hosted on the same server or the same IP address.

Another method is dedicated hosting, where the server or IP address is dedicated to a single website.

Shared hosting is a common setting and is critical to the network because of the limited number of IP addresses available.

From the outside, it is difficult to judge how the website is hosted.

It can be located in a single server, a group of servers, a single data center, or even multiple data centers.

Mueller added that shared hosting needs to remember one thing, and it can overload your server with too many websites.

When a shared server is overloaded, it may slow down, although the same can happen with dedicated hosts. Sites hosted on slower servers can cause a poor user experience and may make crawling by Google difficult.

In other words, Mueller emphasized that dedicated hosting will not automatically be faster than shared hosting, and shared hosting will not be slower by default.

Finally, Mueller debunked the myth that website rankings would be affected by hosting on the same server as “bad” websites. There is no truth in that theory.

In short, as far as Google is concerned, the use of shared hosting is completely acceptable.

There is no need to switch to a dedicated host or dedicated IP address for SEO purposes.
