Why Facebook Change Its Company Name to Meta?

What started in college dwellings is destined to transcend the real world, as Facebook’s new direction today begins with an unexpected name change.

The company formerly known as Facebook is now called Meta, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today.

Why did Facebook change its name?

Zuckerberg has an ambitious goal of changing what people believe is possible on social media.

Giving the company a new name reinforces that Facebook is making some modifications, as we know it.

Now that Facebook has laid the foundation for connecting people through photos, videos and text, Meta is about to add a new dimension to the experience.

Why Meta?

Meta” comes from the term “metaverse“, which refers to an immersive 3D environment where multiple people can share the same virtual space.

Zuckerberg explains his unique vision of it:

“The defining quality of the metaverse will be a feeling of presence — like you are right there with another person or in another place. Feeling truly present with another person is the ultimate dream of social technology. That is why we are focused on building this.

In the metaverse, you’ll be able to do almost anything you can imagine — get together with friends and family, work, learn, play, shop, create — as well as completely new experiences that don’t really fit how we think about computers or phones today.”

It also describes potential use cases that have nothing to do with how technology is used today.

In Zuckerberg’s Metaverse, users log in using virtual reality headers and correlate with each other like holograms.

The virtual world to which they are connected is designed to look like real life.

For example, employees can report to the Metaverse and meet for a meeting.

It feels like everyone is in the same room, even if they are separated by country.

Perhaps an interesting example of what the Metaverse can do.

Consider a concert where attendance is not restricted by the physical location of the person.

You can see your favorite artists with friends from other states without having to travel.

What’s next for Facebook and Meta?

In the future, Facebook series applications will belong to another company regulation.

A separate section will be created for all work on future platforms.

Existing applications are currently the second priority, as Zuckerberg has declared itself “Metaverse First.”

“From now on, we will be metaverse-first, not Facebook-first. That means that over time you won’t need a Facebook account to use our other services. As our new brand starts showing up in our products, I hope people around the world come to know the Meta brand and the future we stand for.”

There is no sign that Facebook as a product goes everywhere.

The services currently in use are uninterrupted, allowing businesses and marketers to work together to sigh of relief.

In addition to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, services related to the company’s metaverse will be used.

That said, if the Metaverse isn’t ready to learn yet, you’re not obliged to enter the Metaverse.

Zuckerberg is a big proponent of his meta-reverse vision, but it is doubtful that joining it will suddenly become a requirement to use the company’s other services.
